Desk
This desk is ridiculous. It’s at least 8 inches too deep for the room, I had to remove 4 pieces of furniture from the room to fit it in, and I gotta back up 2 feet to get the goddamned drawer open all the way.
Yes, I am working in a yellow submarine.

that's a lovely, lovely office though. A very high ceiling for a room in the eaves. I know you are in LA, so I wonder at the style of house? What is it called?

I'm sure you can call around and find a furniture guy that will lop eight inches out of the middle and bond it back together again. It just seems too 'right' for the room to get rid of.

You're going to need a much bigger computer screen, or some very high quality binoculars.

There's nothing wrong with that awesomely green desk. I think your yellow submarine room is too small. ;^)
By the way, I'm lurving your charming chandelier. :^)

I love the clean, cheery look!
If you don't mind damaging your new desk, you could always cut off the back portion of the desk, and then mount it to the wall.

Giant or not, it's a nice desk.

Ya that's weird, 26th?! Must be the camera. We have a Spanish style house in LA, very old. That molding stuff at the top came with the house, so girlie! :) Thx all, I'm not as stressed about it now haha.
Oh and that black thing is my router for my Uverse. It doesn't reach all the way down the length of the house, I gotta figure out how to install a repeater. :( Wish me luck.

the black and white thing on the shelf is a 2wire wireless ethernet hub. I believe.

Do you keep the chandelier on when you're doing formal work?
cute dog.

It may be too big, but I just love the desk in that room. The color of the room and the desk and then how the chandelier just ties it all together. I covet that room. Would be great to write in.

The desk seems okay. As long as you don't open the drawers!!

But it looks great! It's nice to have a desk with character. My desk is just a plain ol' IKEA one.

You mentioned that your router doesn't reach the whole house. The New York Times just ran an article about low-tech solutions for this and other problems. You might enjoy trying your hand at it. See www.nytimes.com/2009/02/19/technology/personaltech/19basi...
(This is the second page of the article.)

I second what silverterra said, kinda: You could always cut the desk's butt off if you don't mind messing with it. I'd probably try to Frankenstein it together, though, i.e. cut out a middle piece and try to reattach the back to the front (if that makes sense).
Or you could cut it directly in half, mount it to the wall, and use the other half somewhere else in the house, also mounted to a wall. :D
Yes, my ideas are frequently overzealous and needlessly complicated.

As others have said, its a very pretty office! I feel inspired! Also quite impressed with how tidy your cabling is! Italian restaurant is an understatement when describing mine!

It's the right colour for the room at least - and big enough to build stuff on. :D

I'm actually getting used to the size of the desk, it's kinda nice. Before I had like 5 pieces of small furniture in the room, this might work out better.
Still reserving judgement tho :)

And there's an added bonus. It's a built in greenscreen for your impromptu finger puppet shows. ..... Everyone does those, right? It's not just me?
Side note: Where did you get that stuffed dragon? It's adorable.

Tidy? Just LOOK at that mess of wires under the desk! The mark of true genius!
