The Official Website of Felicia Day

Knocking my head against wall…

Ok, this will be the last of my frustrated technology posts.  They’re starting to bore me, so I know they’re boring other people too. LOL. But…I got the forums up!  Check them out!

I got a skin I like, although a few of the random pictures are hella cheesy, I think the layout and colors are nice.  00’s Nagel anyone? 🙂  After spending 3 hours trying to alter another skin and coming up with what looks like a rainbow vomit onto the screen, I think I did pretty good, since I combed through every skin I could find on the internet, thanks guys for the links.  I added some smilies for Dustin, and some really crappy avatars and I believe this will be the extent to which I will be dealing with the forums now.   My next task is to add a forum graphic and link to the blog here, but I just banged my head against the WordPress theme editor for hours, I don’t know my way around php very well, and I basically gave up as I started to break the Flog 🙂
After my movie is over this weekend I will start updating my and add a forums link to that as well as add the forums button to the blog too.  There will be a few weeks before we shoot the next Guild episode, we have availability issues with crew and cast, so I’ll have the time to maybe add cooler stuff to my acting site, after all, that’s the whole point of all of this!  Am I the only one who, when tweaking web stuff,  gets caught in a spiral of wanting to change stuff just to look new, of wanting to throw everything out and start new?  Tell me to stop it!  I need to remind myself, it’s not like putting on a new outfit, it’s like painting a house.  🙂

    That’s, like, so hollywood! 😉

Nah, you’re not the only one and yes, you do need to stop. Or one day you’ll look at your watch at 3:26 in the morning and realize you missed an important meeting and didn’t even have dinner yet, let alone lunch or breakfast. *g*

That feeling sounds vaguely familiar… and it is not even the worst part of it. That usually follows about 24-72 hours later, wenn you realize that this whole cool new “outfit” is not that cool and you start working on it again ^^. Been there, done that.
But it is just a slight change in the .css.. and maybe a line or two of xhtml.. and yeah, you have to adjust that php-thingy, and the css again, and then you see how it looks in another browser.. and suddenly you realize that by now you wanted to get up again, let alone the whole going to bed first part.
To sum it up: Got my symphathy 😉

is there a forum link on the main page?

    or otherwise?

  • No, because I’m too busy to do it until next week. You can go to until then. Yes I know, I’m unprepared, lol. Actually, I could put it in the Blogroll at least.

  • I agree.

I think fiddling with your website is like putting on new cloths.

I am guilty of doing so to my Myspace.

I think I have come to the conclusion that I want to make my own blog that is not affiliated with the popular websites (Live Journal, Xanga…). I think I have whored my Myspace blog to the point where I am sick of it.

What programs do you use to make your own Blog site?

  • Edgar

Felicia, and many others, use WordPress as their blogging software.

    — New to the scene? —
Note that in order to use this, you will need a server and a database to install it… by that I mean a dedicated host, which means monthly fees… different hosts charge different prices and offer various packages.

    — Where to get this — gives you the download and explains it some as well… provides more info on it as well. I’d rather not advertise any hosting websites since they are commercial, but you can also create a WordPress blog on their website like so… or something.

  • Thanks, Edgar.
