House Episode

So last night my long awaited episode of “House” aired, and it was so exciting!ย  It’s so great to have so many tells and emails and Twitters from people who recorded the show and planned to watch, AND the ones who were caught completely off-guard.ย  Such a treat! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I love doing my web shows, but there’s something about being on a fancy network TV show that the family eats up:ย  My parents were impressed ๐Ÿ™‚

I wanted to take a few moments to answer a few Tweet questions that people had about working on House.ย  There may be spoilers (If you haven’t already seen it).

How was working with Hugh Laurie?

In my experience, the most talented actors I’ve worked with are also the most professional and Hugh Laurie was no exception.ย  His commitment to his character is absolute, and there’s just no catching him acting: He IS the character.ย  Off-set he is charming and lovely, and incredibly humble.ย  It was such a treat to be able to act opposite him.ย  And yes, his eyes are that blue ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Hard not to crush on him, admittedly, lol.

Did you shave your head?

Nope.ย  Movie magic!ย  I spent 3 hours in makeup getting a bald cap put on, Dahlia the makeup lady took great care of me.ย  It definitely gave me a stiff neck though, because you can’t twist your head that much or the bald cap will pop up.ย ย  Being stuck in the brain surgery device was uncomfortable and hard to crawl into as well.ย  Also I forgot to shave my legs that day of shooting, so I was worried it would show up in HD.ย  Luckily during my brain surgery there were no cutaways to my calves.ย  A glimpse into the vanity of actors.ย  LOL!

Did they really open your brain?

No one asked that really, haha, but I wanted to share how they did that.ย  I actually went in a week early to an FX shop where they had masks of EVERY celebrity known to man lined up high on the wall:ย  Deniro, Cruise, Kidman, Clooney, you name it, their face was in plaster looking down on me.ย  They had to match the shape of my skull, so the molded my hair to my head, put a cap on me, and poured plaster all over my skull and face.ย  It was actually pretty scary, getting cold goo spread over my nose, but I was doing a meditation exercise and got through it ok.ย  Then on set, they had the top of my skull perfectly matched!ย  And brain.ย  I didn’t see the brain part on set, it was gross to watch hah.ย  As for my corneal transplant, again I had to go in and get fitted with it. The contact itself actually had a perscription in it, so it was blurry to look out of.ย  I had an eyeball handler follow me around all day putting special drops in my eye so it wouldn’t irritate me.ย  They took good care of me ๐Ÿ™‚

Will you return?

Sadly no.ย  I was just the POTW (Patient of the Week).ย  I was on the set for a while, 10 days or something, since we shot over Memorial Day, longest Guest Star in history! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  It was such a nice set.ย  When you get to know everyone on a TV set as a co-star or guest star and then leave, gone forever, it’s kinda sad.ย  Most times you’re only acting on one episode the series regulars are a bit standoffish, because you’re really only there a few days.ย  This set really made me feel like I was part of the team, and it was a wonderful feeling.

If you have any other questions post them in comments and I’ll add to this post over the next few days! ๐Ÿ™‚

ADDED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:

How was the table read?

Table reads are always very nerve wracking for actors, unless you’re a regular, because people get fired at them.ย  They don’t feel like it’s working, they write the part out of the episode (Happened to me both ways) so you feel like you’re auditioning again. However, House was a very friendly environment, and I sat across from Hugh, so it was nice to formulate that connection with his character outside the actual hospital set.

Was your character really named Apple?ย  Was the character a math teacher in the script?ย  Did you audition?

Yes to both questions, it was in the script!ย  The math teacher role was quite a coincidence!ย  There was a bit at the top of the show where I actually wrote down a math equation (which I TOTALLY UNDERSTOOD! ๐Ÿ™‚ ) and was teaching the class, but they had to cut that for time I suppose.ย  The show opening was very cool, I had no idea they dropped that truckload like that!ย  Cool!ย  And yes, I was a blind architect.ย  Mmm, I guess it could happen? LOL.ย  Yes, I auditioned for the part through my agent.ย  I’ve read for House almost 10 times in the last 5 years, it’s lovely that I got a role, and such a good one at that!ย  I’m sure they read a lot of people.ย  Getting jobs in Hollywood is very difficult: It’s about access and timing and looks.ย  In that order, haha.

Did they make you look sick?

Well, they allowed no makeup on the patients, that was a trauma I had to get over, haha. I did notice the lighting accentuated my sickness, especially in the puking scene (pineapple juice and chunks, I swear!)ย  Puking to millions of people was awkward, but you do what the character needs to!ย  I think I got the direction “less heaving” once, that was weird.

RE:ย  Last moment with House “You look sad.”:

Yes, doing that line always gave me chills, and when I got to deliver them to House, it was a great acting moment.ย  It was like playing a harp, the dialogue I got as Apple was beautiful and it was a privilege to say those words.

TV shows I’d love to appear in:

Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Office, 30 Rock, Eureka, Heroes, Bones, Fringe, Big Bang Theory, anything Sci-Fi ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I love doing comedy the most, I can’t take myself too seriously and get nervous if I’m supposed to be authoritative.ย  I’m working on that ๐Ÿ™‚

OFF TOPIC:ย  The font is Blackjack.ย  I got it off a free font place, check my delicious.com/feliciaday bookmarks for font sites I frequent.

Did you watch House before?

On and off.ย  I’m very bad about my TV habits, but try to watch each show a few times (in case I get called in to read for it, you gotta know the style of the show!)ย  I did feel that this part had a deeper connection to House than others I’d seen.ย  I actually auditioned for the part from the premiere but didn’t get it.ย  Thank goodness they called me back the next episode!

Was anyone excited about my work on The Guild?

Actually, a few crew members were!ย  They came up and recognized me!ย  For the most part people don’t randomly know about the show, on set or in life.ย  It’s hard to realize that most people are kind of out of touch with the internet (or rather, their life doesn’t revolve around it like mine ๐Ÿ™‚ )ย  I did give bookmarks to the director and the writer, and they watched it and said they liked it!

Did Hugh keep his American accent?ย  How was Olivia?

Yes, and lovely!ย  I couldn’t stop staring at her, she’s beautiful!

  • b!X

Was being a math teacher an in-joke just for you, or was it in the script to begin with?

  • David W. Green

Were you a House follower before your guest appearance? Just curious. You had a character that, unlike some Patients of the Week (but still like others), could identify House’s attitudes towards life and puzzle him rather quickly. Fun!

  • You do meditation? Any specific kind?

  • Wow, ten days, thats great! Its fun to be a guest star on someone else’s set but I would imagine it is even more fun when you add in the extra “movie magic”. Congrats!

  • hey! first i loved the house episode, i watch every week and seeing someone i know playing a potw is fun. second, can you “follow” me on twitter because i believe you have to be followed to be able to twitter to them : AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST i’m a hugeeeeeee olivia and kal fan so any stories about either? i met olivia once and she was such a sweetheart, i adore her!

  • phraktyl

Watched the episode this morning. I thought you were fantastic! I just wish they had spent more time on you and less time with the whole PI subplot.

  • Was anybody there excited about your work with “The Guild?”

  • Apple did a really good job, reacting to the House-with-cleaver hallucination. How easily did that scene come together (ie, number of takes, wear and tear on vocal chords, etc)?

  • Calleja

Did Hugh Laurie drop his American accent in between takes, or did he keep it going till he was off the set?

  • Am a huge fan of you in Dr. Horrible and The Guild. Was terrific to see you on House. Thought you did a great job!

  • b!X

elyssa, you can still tweet @ people that don’t follow you — they just won’t see them unless they check their Replies tab or search Twitter for their name. (In this case, I believe that Felicia does in fact check these things.)

It would be almost completely unmanageable for someone with as many followers on Twitter as Felicia has to return the favor and follow every one of them.

  • Loved the episode. Being an ophthalmic tech though….we (me and a co-worker) had a hard time with the script….we’ve dealt with corneal transplants and such…but you did a great job! Once we just watched to watch, it was great!!

I mainly just wondered, who came up with your characters name?

  • Call me a Felicianoob. A friend turned me on to Dr. Horrible, that led to The Guild (yeah, I’m a player too), now this episode. I definitely enjoyed it, especially the exchanges at the end with House. Very good job, like with the cut looks! Thanks for linking to this post on twitter – I hope you let us know when you answer the (good) questions above.

  • Great job! I really liked the episode, and I think your character was very interesting. I loved that bit with the old man’s wife and the whole lying thing – I don’t think we’ve seen a POTW be so open about lying and so selfish, and it was a very interesting role to see in action. In fact, at that point I thought we weren’t supposed to like your character? But then I realized that we just needed to feel the hopelessness the character was feeling. It was definitely interesting, that’s for sure!

Good job on your part, Felicia, and I’m glad you had fun in the set! Here’s to hoping you might come back some day – God knows there’s a lot of support characters in that show as it is, so what’s one more, right? lol

    All the best from Argentina!

  • So exciting!! I still don’t like seeing fake bad things happen to people I know, because it makes me upset. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • This was the first time I’ve seen you in a drama, I was very impressed. Being in the medical field House plays too fast and loose with the reality of medicine for me to enjoy it usually but we made a point to watch it to support the beloved ubergeek girl. My question was, so you were a blind Architect? how does that work?

  • Have you ever watched Hugh Laurie in “A Bit of Fry and Laurie”?

Not quite pertinent to House, I find it striking how different he is in that or as Bertie Wooster in Jeeves and Wooster (again with Stephen Fry) as compared to Greg House. House is amusing, but in a very different way. I think that’s probably the biggest testament to his talent.

If you haven’t seen them, you can get lots of bits of “A Bit of Fry and Laurie” on youtube, but I highly recommend the 4-disc edition of the 4-year series. Maybe 25 episodes total?

  • Greg

    Just want say WTG! ๐Ÿ™‚

That was some of your best work that I’ve had the pleasure of seeing.

  • Twingly25

Don’t have a question, just wanted to said that I thought you did a wonderful job on the show, too bad it was a one time thing!

  • I watched the last five minutes (thought the show came on at nine) and could have sworn I saw your skull cap popping off at the neck area when the camera was behind you.

  • El

I hate that us Aussie’s are behind! I can’t wait to see your episode of House. I don’t normally watch it, but I’m making an exception ๐Ÿ˜€

And, on a slightly unrelated note, all your twitters about The Guild season 2 shooting have me super excited. Can’t wait!

    Thanks for the blog. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Everett

Felicia, I just saw this episode and you are quickly becoming my favorite actress.

  • I know that this doesn’t relate very much, but what is the name of the font that your name is written in on the header of your page? Do you know where I might find it?

  • hklbry

You just might have replaced Frank Whaley as my fave POTW! Well done!

  • Phil

Did Hugh Laurie speak in his american accent off-set? I grew up watching A Bit of Fry and Laurie so it’s always weird hearing his show accent.

  • Great job in the role!! Apple may not be back, but at least she didn’t die! LOL! My question: How did you get the part? Did you audition? Did they come to your agent or your agent to them?

  • Thanks for responding to my tweet (mfry300). My wife and I thought it was you. Terrific job on one of the best shows ever on TV. Checked out The Guild. Excellent work. Very funny. Say hi to your mom. I met her (and very briefly you) while she volunteered at the Heart of Texas Screenwriters Conference. Are your folks still in Austin? Take care. -Mike

  • Greetings my fellow former Huntsville-ian.

Did you really get Thai takeout like you said in your tweet, and was trying to eat it while watching your skull get opened up on screen a good idea?

Ok, seriously, how do you feel about watching yourself in a completed work like that? I know a lot of people claim to never watch the finished product.

  • Great job! Very good job with the hallicination scene especially!

One question that is probably kind of dumb. How do they make you look sick? I know actors wear makeup due to the lighting. Do they put different kind on you to make you look sick, or does the lighting make people look washed out so they don’t have to do much. And no, I’m not saying you’re pale in real life. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Dani

Sooo, don’t know if I should say that here but I do wanna comment about it, so…

I had to use the not-so-legal tools of the internet to watch the episode. Apparently House season 5 will premiere here only in 2009… and I don’t even follow House, wanted to watch the episode just ’cause your were on it, so, now way I’d wait ’till 2009.

Anyway, what I wanted to comment is… watched the episode last night and I really liked it!! I think you did a wonderful job. It was fun to watch you doing drama, since I’ve only watched The Guild, Dr. H, and Buffy. (I guess Buffy would be consider drama, but Vi was pretty funny… =D) I particularly liked the scene where Apple lied to the old guy’s wife. I thought they gave u (in that scene and the other ones too, of course) some really great lines, which u delivered really really really well. That final scene with the ‘sad’ line was awesome also.

I think I might start watching the show now… really liked it.

Oh, and yes, your brain is gross. And it was very cool to read about the set and how they did your lobotomy! =D

*sorry about the not-so-legal download thing*

  • Mindy

Your final scene with House was among the most poignant and moving of the entire series. Were you as taken with those few moments as your audience surely was?

What was the table reading like?

    Thanks!

  • You did a terrific job. Here’s hoping you get more broadcast TV roles! Guest star on Dollhouse, perhaps?

  • BigT

    I’m glad you didn’t die ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Kevin P

Was so excited to see the episode! Question: Were any of your scenes cut? If so, how do you feel about it, especially given that you’ve probably had to make similar decisions with The Guild.

  • I really enjoyed the episode of “House” with you in it – I think you did a fine job!! Was your character name really “Apple” or did they call you that because your character was a teacher?
    [btw – I am a faithful Twitter follower :)]

  • I just think you were awesome. I really think you are such an incredible actor and someone I totally look to for inspiration. House is one of my favorite shows and I was so happy to see you on it! I think you need your own sitcom! Keep up the great work!

  • BigT

Got a question too – assuming you were a fan of the show before (you didn’t say), were you tempted to call them or refer to them by their characters names ? Do you still think of them like that ?

  • Unfortunately, I missed like the last minute of this House (why do networks cut off the end of shows with my Tivo like that?). However, you were very great. I especially liked the acting in the last scene of the first act.
    Anyway, to the question.
How well did you and the regular cast get along with the other guest actors (noting the patient with no lines and his wife, which you had to argue with)?

  • Congratulations on doing an amazing job! And thanks for putting the extra behind-the-scenes info in your blog post. It’s so interesting how much work goes into each scene.

  • Hahaha I loved the “eyeball handler” thing. Was that really their title?

  • That was an amazing job you done. Congratulations!
Now since you have a taste for prime time acting, do you have any specific current tv shows you would love to appear in?

  • Felicia, thanks so much for sharing these inside details about the filming of your House episode! Sharing those everyday things — like how you were worried about your leg stubble showing on HD — are part of what make you such an exceptional, unique person. So few celebrities will talk to their fans on such a personal, natural level. You treat your fans like an extended network of friends. That’s why I always look forward to your tweets each day. You and Wil Wheaton. Both just awesome. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Just wanted to say good work and Gratz!. My wife is just finishing up re-watching your episode. DVR’s ROCK!

  • Thanks for posting my question, Felicia! It was the first one. I’m such a big Hugh Laurie fan. You also did a great job, especially in Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog.

  • I followed your tweet over here – thanks for giving us an inside view of your House experience! I watched the episode just for your performance (I’m not a House fan) and you did a great job! You have real talent for the serious drama stuff. Oh, and I can’t wait for the Guild season 2. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Awesome job. Got a couple friends from work to check it out as well. Raves all around. Good Luck in the future.

  • Great job! watched it, yer a natural, just saw your Sears spot too!

  • Anna

So… how was it, pretending to vomit? :-s

  • So that’s how they do the brain surgery! I’ve wondered that.

And no one would fault you for being taken by the blue eyes. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Congrats on the role, here’s to more to come! (in addition to the guild, of course).

  • Kaa

Now you should be on Battlestar Galactica as model 12. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • b!X stole my question! ๐Ÿ˜€ I started laughing when it came up in the show and my mom could not figure out what was so funny.

  • Eeny

You were fabulous! By far my favorite House episode ever. ๐Ÿ™‚ Awesome job, loved all of your scenes!!

Question: Is Robert Sean Leonard that adorable in real life or is the camera totally tricking me? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Felicia – you were da bomb, lady! Hope this stellar performance gets you lots more quality jobs. I love watching you act!!

  • Hi Felicia, thanks for sharing your experience of being a POTW on House. It was a great episode. I thought the scene where you told House that the world was ugly, etc. was one of the best scenes I’ve seen on that show (or any other) in a long time. Very moving. I really wanted to know if your character went back to architecture at the end though! Unless I missed something, I guess we are left to our imaginations on that one. ๐Ÿ™‚ I love The Guild and although I haven’t seen Dr. Horribleโ€™s Sing Along Blog yet, it’s definitely in my “to watch” queue. Bravo!

  • Hey, Felicia, I just caught the episode tonight (my class schedule doesn’t let me see things in RT). Great job, I sincerely hope you do more drama in the future. It suits.

  • Andy M

Fan of The Guild, Dr. Horrible, and a subject in Second Skin ^^ Also following you on Twitter, name – mienai

Great job on the episode; I loved it. Being disabled, myself, I can straight up tell you that you nailed the inner turmoil that we deal with everyday. It -is- painful…

I admittedly had to look away during the brain surgery scene though lol

    ~Andy

  • Hey Felicia, how did you get picked for the roll? Did they have a casting session or did you know someone who was affiliated with the show like you did with Dr.Horrible?(without the singing of-course:)

  • That was the grossest House yet and you were great in it. Your character came across as not to sympathetic and not too likable– real dimension.

Those face/head castings often turn up on eBay. I’ll be watching for yours.

    -Wade

  • John

    You made me feel old.

Oh, you probably want an explanation.

My kneejerk reaction to “fancy network TV” was, “what, Fox!?”

  • Maggie

I don’t watch House regularly, but I tuned in for your episode! I thought you did a great job! Congrats! Thanks for posting about it too – I had no idea a POTW would be so involved with head casts and all that!

  • Congratulations! Thanks for sharing the cool tips and tricks.

  • Josh

Well, first of all, great job! The first place I ever remember seeing you is in that cheetos commercial. I thought it was funny, so I tried pretty hard to figure out who you were. No cigar until… about two months ago, I think, when sxephil was talking about Dr. Horrible’s, watched that and it was really good. Then, I looked you up on youtube a while later, found the guild, and then the commercial. Big ‘Oh wow’ moment for me, but I am a big fan and am glad your obviously doing good.

Anyways, my second part is this, will you be trying for more… jobs on major shows/movies/whatnot?

  • With all the respect you deserve your character dissapointed me, with all the hype generated in Twitter around these episode I think she will have more weight in the episode.

The only “highlight” was when your character lie so the wife of the other patient give consent to do the brain exploration, also after the operation when she says to House: “You look sad”.

Your character was a minor role compared to past patients, I was really looking foward to see more of your acting.

  • Candidia

I must say – an excellent episode indeed. I’ve been watching House since the beginning, and I’ve been watching you since Dr. Horrible and just caught up with The Guild.

I agree most with wade_watson, the episode was very gross (which was sad, ’cause I was trying to decorate pumpkin cupcakes while watching) but you made a very believable patient. You came off perfectly opposite House/Laurie, accenting his character. I hope to see you appear again soon in one of my favourite shows ;).

My question is.. did you get to watch other scenes being filmed and/or did you see everything put together at all before it aired?

  • Haven’t had a chance to see it – worked that night and I’m just waiting for it to upload on Hulu. I’m sure you’re great!

  • I agree… I’d love to see Felicia as the 12th Cylon model.

  • Omer

On a scale of 1-11, how was the craft service?

  • Curt Shaffer

As an actress I am sure you’re used people using accents as part of their character, but did it catch you off guard to hear Hugh’s true accent when seeing him out of character?

I just think he nails it, and every time I see an interview with him I always forget he will speak with a British accent.

Also have you ever caught “A bit of Fry and Laurie”? It’s hilarious.

  • r.k

I’ve a question and its something that I wonder about whenever I see these type of scenes in movies and on TV.

What do they use for the vomit? What’s it taste like? And how do they trigger it? Cause sometimes, people will be talking all normal-like and then projectile BLEAAAAGGGGH out of nowhere. Fascinating.

Share these secrets with us! I must know!

  • LeroyC

Haven’t missed an episode of House, and what a treat seeing you in one. How many tried out for the role. and how do they down select the candidates?

  • Can I ask some questions next week after the episode airs here?

  • Austin K

Excellent job. Wish I could say I’ve always been a Hugh Laurie fan, but alas I only really noticed him when he started House. And I don’t even watch it that regularly. But since I’ve been here in NH on a job, I caught “Black Adder” on pbs or something. Started watching it every night. Never knew he was that funny as well.

    Was he funny off-set?

Did you actually know anybody there?(not just the actors)

Again, great job! Hope the work keeps coming! Next time…. Heroes! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • I never watched “House” prior to this episode. I didn’t know his character was gay. Anyway, great job. You were definitely the right actress to play this POTW. I’m looking forward to the Guild.

  • Ben

Felicia–It just hit me. You need to give up the acting (and writing, directing, producing, singing, etc.).

Of course you were great in House but I think you should run against Arnold and become governor of California! (Let me know if you need some help getting signatures to get on the ballot.)

    You’d totally win.

  • Jomichael

Loved the episode, but I must say I prefer you in comedic parts. You certainly handled yourself well in a heavy role, but my impressions of you have been formed by Dr. Horrible, The Guild, and Legend of Neill. I like that you always bring the funny.

  • Nembly

It was swell to see you on the tv so I could show you to the people who refuse to look you up on those there internets. (And no one quite understood my Cheetos commercial obsession..)

I want to do as many have done and urge urge urge you and everyone in the world to watch A Bit of Fry and Laurie and most especially Jeeves and Wooster. Favorite shows ever, I must say.

What I want to know is, did any of the other cast members see Dr. Horrible and/or The Guild? Did they looove them, as they should have?

I was very impressed by your performance! You’re my hero! Keep on tweeting, guilding, horribling, etc..ing.

  • Megan

Great job on House! You are definitely becoming a favorite among my circle of friends. ๐Ÿ™‚

Any other TV shows you’d just love to play a guest role? (I think it would’ve been cool to be a “guest god” on Joan of Arcadia or a MoTW client on Veronica Mars…but they’ve both been canceled.:( )

  • NLP

WOW! POTW! I’m so impressed and envious. Thanks for the confirmation of the fact that Hugh really IS that nice and his eyes ARE that blue! I don’t suppose you grabbed David Shore by the lapels and told him we want Cameron back?! Didn’t think so. Did you even get to see Jennifer?

  • Felicia, it actually would have made sense if your leg hair did show up in HD. Normal people in your characters position have way too much on their plate to worry about shaving.

I think one of the things really good actors (like you) do is acknowledge their vanity (because anyone who is going to be in public will have it) and place it aside for the good of the work. I absolutely HATE when an actor screws up a scene because he/she was more concerned with looking good than with doing good.

Great job the other night (well, technically last May, but you know what I mean!)

  • Bill M

All of a sudden: “Hey, it’s Felicia Day!”
    Nice treat. Great job! =)

  • Well done! My wife and I watch House from time to time. Her being a nurse, and me being a chemist we both suffer a lack of “suspension of disbelief” with hospital/CSI type shows, but House makes up for it by being more about the characters, IMHO, than the mystery disease of the week (MDOTW?).

Congrats on the role, hope you keep landing more.

  • Eeny

    OH another question!

Are you planning on doing any more TV shows in the near future? You’d be awesome on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia!

  • Loved the episode Felicia! Got a chance to watch it last night (love that DVR) and had to giggle to myself when your appliance commercial popped up during one of the breaks. I was glad I was slow with the fast forward button. Keep up the good work! I love seeing you on the tv screen just as much as the computer screen ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I never watched โ€œHouseโ€ prior to this episode. I didnโ€™t know his character was gay. Anyway, great job.

    House isn’t gay. Probably.

Nice job Ms. Day! I especially like the ‘You look sad’ scene. It’s so rare that anyone gets inside House’s guard but you made it look easy.

  • Randy (Sariah)

“Of course you were great in House but I think you should run against Arnold and become governor of California! (Let me know if you need some help getting signatures to get on the ballot.)

    Youโ€™d totally win.”

I totally agree with the above statement….do it and let us rule our state from vent!! What…you don’t wanna advance the budget out of the Assembly? /gkick asshat /ginvite lackey….budget signed!

I think Sariah would make a fine Leiutenant Gov. She does have a frosty heart of ice afterall.

  • Ronnie

Saw you last nite on Lowe’s commercial with red washing machines that matched your hair and the lady you were trying to sell to ๐Ÿ™‚ You should tell us when you’ve got stuff coming out so we can be on the lookout! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Two

    Best Hugh Laurie moment ever:
    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WkZ-Cogr-rM

    ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • i have to admit that i only the second half – i had to see the season opening of “big bang theory”! how would i know how leonard and penny’s date went?

but you were good – and it was interesting seeing you in a drama.

i have to admit that i think you do comedy better. your timing is just soooo good! but your dramatic acting is good too!

  • Dirty Poet

Well done! House is one of my favourite shows and you were totally my favourite POTW so far. So you’ve acted in comedies, dramas and musicals, which is your favourite? Do you prepare differently for each role? And at the risk of sounding creepy, how did Hugh Laurie smell? ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Just finished watching the episode, and I really enjoyed seeing you show up as the POTW. Good stuff and well done ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I would love to see Felicia on an episode of The Big Bang Theory. I hope that’s the sitcom job she got called in for today!

  • I updated the post with answers to your questions. Thanks for asking!!

To respond to your most recent Twitter: NO. Do not panic! WaMu was taken over and put in a conservatorship. You are covered up to 100k in liquid deposits (plus 100K for your share of any joint accounts) and 250K for deposit IRAs (like IRA CDs, etc). Operations of WaMu will continue as normal – the FDIC took over WaMu and put it into what’s called ‘receivership.’ This is what the FDIC is there for.

Don’t panic. You’ve got your towel. All is well. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Just wanted to say my congrats on the House episode. Good to see good things happen to good people. BTW the episode aired in Guatemala this week. So GratZ on going global!!!!

  • Oooh, yay! Update! Thank you Felicia! I was sitting here boredly cleaning up my guild’s bank, and I tune in to your blog to prevent myself from konking out at my desk… and kaboom, all new info! Pineapple, huh. Wouldn’t have figured on pineapple. That… could potentially ruin my fondness for piรฑa coladas. XD

  • Hmm…. trying to figure out how folks get these icons on here. I set up an account at gravatar. Maybe I need ot use my gravatar nickname here to make it show up…

  • quicksilver382

    Felicia,

    MONEYMONEYMONEYMONEYMONEYMONEYMONEY

You were wondering if you should panic on twitter. Since I have no clue how twitter works, I wanted to make sure you knew about FDIC at WaMu. Your money is not going to get eaten up as long as it does not exceed $100K. If it does, it’s only the difference of your account and $100K. I would start looking at better banks to trust in right now though. Bank of America seems to be doing pretty well buying up these defunct banks. There are other good ones out there, but I can’t think of them at the moment and only you know your current finacial situation. Another option is looking at Credit Unions. They usually can offer members higher returns on their savings and checking accounts since it’s a “bank” that is run by members. Mattress money isn’t so good since banks/credit unions provide a method to grow your money by a. having a monthly interest rate and b. having that rate meet or exceed the rate of inflation each year.

Disclaimer: I have no financial interests in Bank of America nor any of it’s subsidiaries. I take no responsibility for any financial decisions you ultimately make and I’m only pointing out options open to you.

  • We Felicia fans should do a little letter-writing campaign to the writers of Big Bang Theory and ask them to have Felicia on an episode of their show. ๐Ÿ™‚ She’s beloved by so many geeks, as is Big bang Theory. It’s a natural match.

    Hi Felicia,
I saw you first in the Dr. Horrible musical and loved your work there. When I saw the first promos for House I recognized you at once and got really excited. House is one of the rare shows where you hardly find bad acting and there are always great scripts. I simply love the show to pieces. You did a great job though parts of that episode were REALLY gross.
Just wanted to make sure you realize that you were seen all over the world and that you are being envied by all the females having a crush on Hugh ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Greetings from Germany.

Just wondering if you’d seen the “LOL House” for your episode yet? It popped up in my reader this morning. http://keepyourreceipt.blogspot.com/2008/09/lolhouse-season-5-episode-2.html

    Keep up the good work!

  • Andrew

Hey just want to say I saw the episode last night and your performance was really fantastic as you brought a lot of emotional depth to a very complex character. Indeed, I was very used to you playing somewhat innocent characters, yet Apple didn’t totally fit into that particular categorty. Here was a person who was willing to lie and let someone else die in order to save her own life. At the same time, this character had endured alot of personal pain due to her eye transplant. It was that particular scene, where she first opens herself up to House, which really got to me. I felt so sad to hear how all of her dreams, hopes, and aspirations that this operation was supposed to give her just fail miserably. Man, wanted to give Apple a hug right there and say it’s ok. Thus, I was very happy for her when she was able to truly “see” for the first time and that “you’re so sad” line to House was quite poignant. Again, Ms. Day, your performance really made the character come alive.

Anyway, in addition to kudos w/ House, I want to say that I’ve been a big fan of the Guild, which I found to be incredibly well-written. Sure it deals with online gaming, but the story-telling is actually pretty deep. Indeed, for episode 9, if one were to take away the computer geekiness and Cheesybeard’s, the Guild fighting the mother of a comrade is something you’d find in a Greek epic. Look forward to more episodes in the future and I hope all goes well in your acting endeavors. Hey, plan on visiting the New York Comic Con someday? We fans on the East Coast would love to meet you!

  • I didn’t know you were appearing on House, but the moment I saw I knew it was you; Had to look it up to be sure ๐Ÿ™‚

I was really surprised actually and thought it was really cool. Its really too bad playing a sick person got in the way of your total hotness. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • OMG, Jessica, thank you for posting that. I had never heard of LOL House. I heart this picture! http://tinyurl.com/worstcornrows

  • >> Its really too bad playing a sick person got in the way of your total hotness.

Bah, it did not. She’s beautiful with or without makeup. Or hair. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Eeny

“TV shows Iโ€™d love to appear in:

    Always Sunny in Philadelphia,”

Felicia, if you ever appear in this show at all I would like, faint. Because my favorite actress in my two favorite shows? Yeah. Woah.

  • I just wanted to say you did a great job. I don’t catch a lot of House however what I have seen I love the show. It was interesting to see all the special effects and then read your blog responses giving a different perspective from someone who actually was there.

Keep up the great work and keep us your fans aware of any new TV shows you might pop up on. Personally I could see you fitting into the office right now with Pam at art school.

  • Sue

Great job in your House episode!

  • Kurdt

    Greetings from France Felicia !

I discovered you few mounths ago in The Guild show (I created your french wikipedia article (well, it’s just a bad translation of the english one but whatever xD) !) You were just great, then I watched you in Dr Horrible and I was really happy to see you with one of my favorite acteurs (Neil Patrick Harris).

But I was totally glad to know that you will guest star in a episode of House.

Your performance was just amazing and stunning. You are the best POTW of the show there is no doubt on that.

    I have a question :

“When did you shot the episode of House ? Which mounth ?” Thank you so much.

I hope to see you soon on an another show or movie (who knows, maybe i’ll see ya on NBC’s My Name is Earl :D)

    Best regards,
    Kurdt

  • You, my girl, are incredibly silly. I’ve seen you without makeup and know first hand that you are beautiful au natural. Seriously, I’m jealous of your flawless skin!

Enjoyed seeing you on House, hope to see you soon.

    <3 XOXO

  • Aquaberry777

Hello, I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the House episode you were in as the POTW, especially since your character got to make more of a profound connection with House than what we normally see between him and his patients. I was especially moved what Apple said in response to House’s last question to her. โ€œYou look sad.โ€ I am always amazed by how complete strangers are able to see House’s pain better than the people who surround and somewhat know him better do. You definitely got some of the best scenes of the episode with Hugh Laurie (and thank you for answering the question about whether or not his eyes are THAT blue).

Oh thanks also for telling what the fake vomit consist of as I’ve been curious about what it was for awhile now.

  • hacksaway

Hi Felicia, just saw your new Sears commercial! Laundry machines again? lol, awesome.

  • cbot

And yes, I was a blind architect. Mmm, I guess it could happen? LOL.

I dug your appearance, but took issue with how they were throwing around the term “blind”. My vision, in numbers, is twice as bad as Apple’s was supposed to be; I’m 20/400, and she was 20/200, as I recall. I could definitely be an architect if I wanted to be. Ah well, it’s only TV….

  • Did you feel invested in Apple’s eventual recovery?

Since House is a show where the PotW doesn’t always make it, I wonder how much you’d let yourself care about Apple’s fictional uncancer. You already know she’s just a one-time character, but is there a part of you that’s on the edge of your hospital bed hoping that she makes it out okay to live a fruitful fictional life?

  • Katie

Wait… no makeup at all? So the extreme closeup on your face was completely natural? Good lord, you are beautiful.

  • Katie

Addendum: Did they make you scream at the table read? ๐Ÿ˜€

  • If you could go back and work on either MONK or HOUSE again, and were only able to choose one, which would it be and why? ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Brian

I saw the episode of House and was completely floored by your performance. I googled you to find out what else you’ve been in and found the site. You’ve got some great stuff here and I can’t wait to check out the Guild. Keep up the good work!

  • CJ

    Hi Felicia!

We’re actually ‘friends’ on goodreads.com but I wanted to drop a line and let you know that I’m a huge fan of House and when I saw that you were going to be on I got really excited.

Wanted to let you know that you did a terrific job and the last line “you look sad” was delivered perfectly ๐Ÿ™‚

  • This is somewhat unrelated, but it has to do with you being on TV. Tonight I was watching the DIY network and during their show “Yard Crashers” I saw your “SEARS Blue Appliance Crew” commercials twice! Now, I don’t know if these are new or old, but they’re new to me! You did a great job!! You looked good and I kinda wanted to go buy appliances… even though I don’t need them! Are these new?

  • r.k

    Just caught the updated answers!

Pineapple juice and chunks? Oh, that sounds…delicious ๐Ÿ™ That’s why it’s acting I suppose.

Thanks for the answer, and yea, that Sears commercial makes me grin every time I catch it. It’s like you’ve taken to the Christopher Walken school of randomly popping up in unexpected places and such.

  • I would love to see you in Eureka (one of my current favorite shows) and I hear rumor of Arrested Development maybe making its way back onto the small screen…I think there is a perfect fit there. If not perfect, at least above average…better than most people, definitely better than most ๐Ÿ™‚

I am eagerly awaiting more of the Guild!!! It is extremely clever and snarky, I have re-watched what has been done thus far multiple times; they are a wonderful addition in my arsenal to avoid responsibility while at the office! Since my social life has been limited to raids and BGs since the beta, self relevant as wellโ€ฆI am thinking Blizzard needs to fund some self help groups, like big tobacco is doing.

Any whoโ€ฆI love your work, you are truly gifted and a true gift to us untalented, masses wandering blindly through the blandness which is our everyday! Keep it up and I look forward to being persuaded to visit a Sears store. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • The room full of actors’ faces is actually kind of creepy. @_@

  • David

You’re quite possibly the most beautiful girl in the universe, not to mention extremely talented. Loved the House episode and hope to see you in many more things.

  • Jeff

I saw both the season opener and your episode, and the POTW role was much better for your week. Geekier, related to the brain (who doesn’t love the brain? heh), and great scenes with Laurie. I guess the opener had some interesting interactions with Olivia, but c’mon, you got a bald head mold made into your image! No contest.

  • I watched the episode with my wife and loved it. She actually turned to me and said she had seen you before but could not place it. I said “The Guild” and she finally placed you. Good stuff!

  • I love me some Felicia Day! Loved the episode! Loved Dr. Horrible!

  • I’ve just seen you in the Dr. House episode. I want you to know that I loved it. For this I looked for your website and I discovered “the guild”. Very funny! You are great! I hope to see you soon in some movie or TV show.

    Simone. (From Italy!)

  • Itay

“Did they really open your brain?”
    Ha ha. XD
You are really cute, keep that up. For me you will always stay Penny.
I came here by coincidence, because I just saw an episode of Retarded Policeman, so I ought to look that up and I ended up here… and I think I’m going to stay for a while and read.

  • Unfortunately, I seem to have missed that episode. Or maybe I said: “Wow, isn’t that Felicia Day?”, I think I remember me being surprised like that one day … but I can’t remember the episode. I believe that it was great.
If someone finds a way to watch it online, I would be very glad if you could send me a link (http://twitter.com/waushh).
And I’m feel sorry because of them cutting the math formula off…. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Elm

Funny thing is all you funny people are posting here and yet she is not even replying to you guys.

  • I’m replying to people, just more on the more recent threads ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Mathematica

This is just for my personal question. I been watching interview on youtube. (alots of them) lol. I never found out if you ever taking an acting course in college before you become an actress. Does it come natural to you because you start praticing at the age of 6? or you did take the course but you just didnt told anyone yet.

  • House is a good show, just a bit different than everything else…

  • The post is definitely the freshest on this valuable topic. I concur together with your conclusions and can eagerly sit up for your future updates. Saying thanks won’t just be satisfactory, for the fantastic lucidity in your writing.

  • 6502

I was expecting another competent “hey I got paid” TV episode, since I’m usually bored with house. You absolutely nailed it and made a great piece of TV. Yeah, the writer and director may have had something to do with it ๐Ÿ™‚ Off to nightmares about House with a cleaver…

  • Starbuck56

Glad to see you in MAINSTREAM tv, maybe some movies? Blood and Chrome would be good – more serious stuff. AND the main reason for my post, The Big Bang Theory needs you to be cast as Sheldon Coopers fraternal twin sister, (name to be determined).

  • hi,there

  • JoeR

I have watched you in a couple of different shows: Eureka, Supernatural, Red (on SyFy), Dragon Age, etc. You have very good acting skills to pull off each of the different characters so well. I have become a fan of your work. I think you would be fanastic playing Lisa Shearin’s character Raine Benares, if some producer would pick the books up for TV.
