My wonderful producer @kimevey wrote this episode and I’m really proud of her, the first episode I relinquished writing control, and it’s so good! We did it old-school quick and dirty style, very few crew members, 4 hour shoot, and honestly it was almost more fun than filming a regular episode because there weren’t so many elements for me to be paranoid about. I could just sit back, do my part acting-wise and do the creative producing. Greg Benson (her husband and part of Season 1 director @mediocrefilms) directed, and he did a fab job, I really like the loose camera work and improv-ish style for the piece, it’s really really fun! And what can I say about performance: Baby Blake steals the show.

This episode is out of the timeline for the season, so we’ll be back with Episode 9 next week, tumbling down to the end of the season! Really hope you guys enjoy it, Ep 9 and particularly 10 are my favorite eps of the season.

On another note, a month or so back I filmed a short for NASA! (When they called my agent @georgeruiz the words “NASA” were barely out of his mouth before I said “YES PLEASE!”

I have to admit, my knowledge about Astronomy is not as much as the other areas (ignorance now demolished as I, while doing research to understand what I was saying, downloaded 20 books on my Kindle and bookmarked a dozen sites and now am on a huge hard Sci-Fi fiction kick. Thanks guys!) I obsessively memorized my lines because THAT WAS A LOT OF DIALOGUE!!!!!!!! It came out sooo good, and I’m so impressed that the script balanced comedy and education so well. I hope you enjoy it too!

A little bit cute. On a scale of 10: 4.

  • Varsha

Another great episode! =D Nice to have some specials for holidays. =)

Vork splitting the “loot”… /lmao! Tinky throwing the toilet paper in the trees. You should have Bladezz tie her up in toilet paper, little brat! Baby Blake is sooo cute! Must admit I was worried for a second when I saw the little one sitting in the street and cars driving by. =p

I watched the NASA video last night when you posted the link on Twitter. I was surprised how well informed and confident you were. Kinda cute now that I know you had to do some research to understand it. =p

I just love how passionate/involved/interrested you get into every single project you work on. Ive been following The Guild for a while, been catching up on most of your work in the last few weeks. Its impressive how you can bring that aura you have around different roles without the label of Codex or Penny, etc. So many actors are “stuck” with one main role they did in their carrier and it seems they can’t really step out of it. Not the case with you! =p

Keep up the good work! <3

  • Noble Brown

Haha, love the copyright-necessitated alteration of John Carpenter’s Halloween theme at the beginning! Also, I think Tink was playing charades in the street. She was acting out a particular band…

Could’ve been funny to see Wiggly noobing it up with trick or treating(“Trick or feet! Wait, what was I supposed to say?”), but that might’ve been pushing it. Great, funny episode!

  • Brad

As someone who is currently studying interacting galaxies using Spitzer data, that NASA video made me unbelievably happy. Thanks, Felicia!

  • James

The nasa video was hilarous and the halloween episode made me lol Zaboo the pooping necromancer. Good job.

  • Ken

Great Halloween Special. So many fun moments. Almost didn’t recognize Julie Wittner out of the shower. Hope this and the Avatar music video will be on the season 3 dvd.

The NASA short was great too. Wish they made stuff like that when I was in school instead of those awful “Troy McClure” style films.

  • Geek girls all over the world turned green with envy. A Nasa video under your belt. Thanks for all the great work.

  • Loved the Halloween Ep – and even though I really want to know what happens next in S3, with was really fun to see everyone stepping back into their more traditional roles for a little while. Yay for Kim and Greg – it was hilarious!

And – OMG! That Nasa video! So much to love in there, from the Joss line, to Sean Astin, to Flunky, to the ‘final cut’ – great work all around. You give geek girls a good name.

  • korkster

The NASA film was hilarious. Reminded me of the cartooned “Man to the Moon” series they used to do with Disney.

And loooooooooooooooooove Halloween! Who is the poor couple that has to take in the Guildies?

  • Mike D.

I have to admit that I was surprised when Vork didn’t put the bowl in his bag along with all the candy. At least he wasn’t trick-or-treating in Spanish.

I’m looking forward to the rest of the season but not the eventual TUE mornings without a new Guild ep. I hope you and the rest of the cast can find time to keep making the con rounds, with more East Coast dates. Remember, most of the museums in DC are FREE! Maybe the Spitzer vid will be playing at an Air & Space exhibit?

  • KatieQ

Loved the Halloween special, even being an Aussie (We don’t celebrate Halloween >,<) it was a great episode hehe.
I agree Mike D, not having a new episode every Tuesday night will be sad. I look forward to the release every week!!
At least theres a few more episodes to go until then ^_^
Great work from everyone, thankyou for all the unless hours of entertainment!

  • Melanie1001

OK I totally loved the Halloween ep – and wasn’t that “Lick Poop” playing the husband there? Oh how I miss Gorgeous Tiny and Kiko! Too too cute and funny!

And that NASA vid rocks! You made my day twice this Tuesday ๐Ÿ™‚

  • That was great! I watched it with my boys (12, 10. 5 and 3) they all got a crack out of it. Great job as always. Looking forward to the next episodes of the Guild.

  • Kudos on both videos – they were filled with supreme hilarious glory.
    Crushed glass!! (priceless)

  • Kevin Byrne

Wow, I love your work! You’re very creative. I’m new to watching The Guild, but I enjoyed every episode I’ve seen. I really liked the recent gag reel, the season 3 Halloween episode, and the Nasa video. I’m going to recommed your site to my friends.

I thought you did very well on the science. I didn’t know that about the silicon crystals. You are correct that stars don’t run into each other when galaxies collide, and about the time before Andromeda hits us (most other galaxies are racing away from us). Did you come across in your research “The Dark Flow”? Here is a link to an article you might enjoy:
    http://www.nasa.gov/centers/goddard/news/topstory/2008/dark_flow.html

And if you are on a hard science kick, I would recomend the following books of fiction:

Revelations Space (first in a very good series) by Alastair Reynolds

Echoes of Earth (first in a trilogy) by Sean Williams and Shane Dix

and the Mars trilogy (first one is Red Mars) by Kim Stanley Robinson

Oh, and thanks for maintaining a blog. That is nice of you to let fans post messages.

Keep up the good work! And have fun:)

    – Kevin

  • Jag

That was a very interesting piece of work, Miss Day.
Seeing you in the guild is always awesome, but I really enjoy when you actually play a version of you. The script looked a bit hard to me (but hey, Im a french guy from Quebec) but you manage to look smart and cute. ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks for sharing it with us!

    • Varsha

Im a quebecker too! ๐Ÿ˜€ The Guild is getting more and more followers among french canadians .

We do have french versions of WoW in stores in Quebec but they mix us with european servers. Which makes it very quiet on our east coast hours. Some dare to go to the US servers. It makes pretty interresting situations when we dont understand whats being said on vent. :p

Its the great thing about The Guild, there is so much facial comedy/expression, its easy to understand even for non english speaking people.

      <3 The Guild <3

  • Jag

Also, nice Episode for the Halloween! I must say, Vork is my favorite character (no offense ๐Ÿ˜€ ) but every one did a good job! I was so looking foward to see the Knights of Good strike back, but I guess I’ll have to wait another week… :S

Thanks again for all the great efforts you put in the serie, its the only web serie I’m really into, eversince season 2 (when I discovered it).

  • GDI

Wow, I am so in love with Felicia Day! A 4.0 GPA in mathematics and violin composition? WOW!!!!

  • You are such a geek! Geeks are sexy.

  • Guild episode: successful delegation! Impressive! Loving to see Lick Poop married to the girl from 2 girls in the shower. Guess he finally gave up on / moved on from Kiko. ๐Ÿ˜‰

NASA vid: Is this your first internet video, Ms. Day? Hahaha. You rattle off lines like a un-self aware genius like no other. Loved the Sean Astin / Joss humor. Have you seen the CERN Hadron Collider Rap?

    Chris F and Jossy

  • The Halloween episode was freakin’ full of win. You put the “Tue” back in Tuesday, girl.

  • Kathryn

Oh my god that little kid saying Trick or treat and wiggling was super super cute.
    Love the NASA vid

  • I hate children, but that ending made me squirm and grin.
    Nice job.
Gratz on the NASA job. Very cool.

  • OMG!!! *giggles* Baby Blake is just the cutest EVER!!

I have to laugh. I’ve been watching the Guild for ages, and yet I had no idea Kim Evey was a producer. I’m a huge fan of Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show, it’s just so surreal. I shouldn’t be surprised, even though they’re nothing alike, they’re both really well made.

You guys do good things and bring a bit more joy to the world. Good job! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • anonymous poster

    I lol’d a little at cougar style.

Anyway if you’re still binging on SciFi, I suggest you Ursula K. Le Guin. Amazing writer.

  • Felicia Day, thank you for bringing attention to all things good in the universe! Nasa, The Guild and you make it all a little more bearable knowing my stars will all go wonky someday ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Jim

Thank you! The halloween video was the best. Tink doing all the tricks what a hoot. Now that you’ve done a NASA viseo your agent has even more ammo to get you on “The Big Band Theory”.

  • Chris

    Great job on both videos!
    Halloween was great!
SciFi – Ender’s Game, Starship Troopers (the book, not the awful movie of a similar name that is very very loosely based on the book).

  • Awesome Halloween vid. That NASA vid is RANDOOM!

  • Viktor

How I wish schools would use “that” way to tech kids about stuff. I learned more about astronomy watching this funny video than I ever did going to school.

Really good script by Kim and I hope to see more from her.

And who can forget Felicia. Always a joy to watch your work.
Wether it be The Guild, Dr Horribles or some random webvideo.

  • rich

Haha, loved the astronomy video. Once again, Felicia, you got the balance between cute and funny down and it really worked for this. I like how Flunkie (sp) has a laser that projects EVERYTHING. I need one of those >.>

  • pb

Just watched Legend of Neil “the musical.” It was great. Wanted to say I loved your work as the Fairy!!

Now I have to watching this NASA skit!! Later!!

  • Patrick

The Halloween episode was great. My favorite scene is Clara’s child sorting candy in the street. ๐Ÿ™‚

The NASA bit is also great. Very good balance of information and comedy!

  • “What in the name of Joss Whedon was that?”
    Jep, that one’s going on a t-shirt ๐Ÿ˜›

And I have to disagree with Sean. 3 Billion
years isn’t a universal “blink of an eye”, it
is in fact about one fourth of the age of our
universe… Wait, why am I arguing with a
    tape recorder? ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Jesse

Really loved the Spitzer telescope video. I wish there were more educational videos out there like it. I’ve never laughed in a single one of my astrophysics lectures, but this one got me chuckling. Bravo!

You pulled off the sexy scientist role quite well.
Haha, cya in three billion years!

  • If you are on a Sci-Fi/Fantasy kick…try the Split Infinity series by Piers Anthony. Excellent reads ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • The NOOB sprayed on the car made me laugh out loud. I can just imagine the non-MMO-playing car owner coming out and thinking: ‘NOOB?’

  • rdaneel

    Ms. Day:

Two science fiction books that might be of special interest to you, given your interest in gaming, are:

A recent book (2008) by science fiction writer Walter Jon Williams, “This Is Not A Game”, set in a near future world, and involving a lead female character who creates “Alternate Reality Games”, and who has to figure out who is trying to kill most of her friends during the course of a new game she is running. Walter Jon Williams has written a number of science fiction and fantasy books, and also has written some games.

An older book (1988) by Iain M. Banks, “The Player of Games”, about the best game player in an advanced galactic civilization called “The Culture”. The book also involves another civilization that selects its emperor based on who wins a strategy gaming competition.

  • Daniel

    Hi there Felicia!

I just wanted to say that you’re great and I utterly love everything you’ve done. From Doctor Horrible, to The Guild, June, everything. You are an amazing actress and person, and I find watching your performances very inspiring!!

I am aspiring to go into the field of animation one day, and it has been very hard for me (since I’m my own worst critic) but I find that watching you progress through your career gives me motivation.

Keep up the great work and stay smiling,

    -Daniel from Canada

  • pb

Felicia, love your work. The guild is LOL every time!!

I am finishing an iPhone app you might like. Would you like to beta test? If so DM me on twitter.

  • Thomas

Hello and thanx for the all the fun!!

The NASA eductional was quite educating… in matters of making educational films. I wonder what knowledge is falling through the cracks in other films of this kind.

Especially Sean Astin was great as his own Audio book. I bet he doesn’t know he was in this one… or does he?

The Halloween goodie was just great. Especially seeing the guildies in their costumes from the music clip again. Hope to see more like that!

    Greetings from Germany!

  • Daniel

he he that was a really cool NASA video funny and educational,(in a very random but original way) i think that was the best educational video since Bill Nye the Science Guy and i loved the guild Halloween episode. i think that the bit with Bladez and the housewife was hilarious.

  • I’m new here but loving the blog and twitter feed ;).

  • NickDMax

Wonderful job on the NASA video. With so much going on in space (such as the recent discovery of “significant amount” of water found on the moon) it is disappointing to see astronomy and space exploration so poorly handled by the media. One does not have to be a super-geek (although it helps) to find this stuff exciting or fascinating.

It is wonderful to see a beautiful and intelligent spokeswoman. Now you can smile to yourself and say, “My name is Felecia Day, you may remember me from my other educational films such as…” : )

  • jebmak

I really got a kick out of the NASA video.

It is wonderful to see a beautiful and intelligent spokeswoman. Now you can smile to yourself and say, โ€œMy name is Felecia Day, you may remember me from my other educational films such asโ€ฆโ€ : )

Seconded. I can’t wait for “Man vs. Nature: The Road to Victory”

  • Funny video, good job! This video is not only for entertainment, but education too, which is always great:)

  • Alex Bony

nice work, guy! the video is really great! thank you for sharing this interesting and educational video with us. they are great! And you will also seek entertianment from a laser pointer, which is a perfect tool for stargazing in spare time.

  • science fiction books is the thing that i always read because it stirs my imagination ”

  • Funny video, good job! This video is not only for entertainment, but education too, which is always great:)

  • Great episode :)!

  • I dugg some of you post as I thought they were really beneficial invaluable
