Guild Wrapped, Episode 3 up, Other stuff

Well, I’m pleased to announce that Episode 3 is up and running!  Here are the links:

You can download to your Xbox from the Xbox Marketplace.

Or View it streaming MSN Video. If you enjoy it, it would mean a lot if you pressed the “Digg” button. Thanks!

Also the episodes are downloadable on the Zune Marketplace up to Episode 3, so please enjoy and share with your friends 🙂 Here’s a link (you have to have the software).

We wrapped Guild shooting yesterday, I cannot actually believe we got through the whole script. We shot a feature-length script on weekends, starting out with no money, ending with an amazing sponsorship that melded independent web video with a big powerhouse distribution partner. Yesterday, the last day of shooting, I was able to sign checks to everyone who has worked for free or almost free the whole shoot. Being so close to Christmas it made me tear up because it was so exciting to compensate our actors and crew (I guess I’ll never be a really high-profile producer with that attitude, ha! 🙂 )
I will be updating my blog much more frequently now that I actually have a few hours a day free, yay!
A few links I’d like to share with you:

Also, I am a fangirl for fantasy authors, that’s no surprise, and when I heard that Patrick Rothfuss, author of “Name of the Wind” one of my fave books of the last few years, was doing a fundraising drive for Heifer International I had to sign up. Check out his blog entry with the items I donated, a cast-signed DVD and a Dr Horrible signed poster from Comicon as well!

Last but not least, a really funny interview I did for the Jace Hall Show, a really cool gamer-oriented improv-style show on Crackle. Please enjoy me improvness! 🙂

Gratz Felicia! I’ve been following your blog for a while now and it’s great to see the huge success of The Guild after all the hard work and passion you’ve poured into it. Rest, regroup and get ready for 2009! 😀

  • Dani

Wow! So will you actually have free time now??? That’s amazing. Congratz! =D

Though you still have to edit the episodes, right?… *way to kill the ‘yey! Free time!’ mood.

Watched episode 3, dugg it, and loved it! I had no idea Vork was SO crazy! Oh, and I laughed so hard with the Vork and Grandpa pic! Hilarious!

Congratz again! And enjoy the free time!

  • A hearty congrats! If the rest of the season is even half as good as these first few episodes, then I am expecting lots of laugh out loud moments. (Seriously, Vork is friggin awesome!)

  • Open Standards

So there is no way to view this without buying a Microsloth product?

  • Dani

    @Open Standards

You don’t have to buy anything to watch it on MSN Video.

  • [twisti]

Yeah, I was pissed when I read where it’s available too, but it turns out, MSN video is pretty much like YouTube, no install or purchase or anything other than a click required.

  • John

Cough. Is it too soon to ask about the second DVD…?

    Two semi-constructive commments (I hope).

First, I didn’t think I was going to enjoy the ensemble approach to the show, especially with short episodes. If this last episode is any indication, I was pleasantly and very wrong.

Second, MSN Video is a nice, but weird, system. Not that you have any impact on such things, but it seems really advanced in some ways and “senior projecty” in others. Weirdly, I can’t get video to play in my Firefox installation (probably an add-on “helping” me), but it works fine in K-Meleon, unless I watch full screen, in which case Windows crashes. Life’s little adventures.

Anyway, congratulations on making it through shooting. And paying people. And while it’s probably not useful to non-media me, I eagerly await the slew of interviews where you try to answer pushy questions about how to be successful beyond “make something people really like, then wait for money.” Because you know the media wants a formula…

  • Nik

Unfortunate that it’s only on MSN Video and Xbox LIVE and Zune Marketplace. I won’t be watching this season I guess. =( I suppose I’ll have to wait until there’s a DVD.

Best of Luck Felicia, I hope that next season you sign with someone else so you don’t have to use Microsoft’s distribution methods.

  • That fricking rocked… Awesome interview.

  • I do admit, MSN Video is problematic for some browsers and there are issues on the site, I do send them a lot of emails and they remedy things, but I admit, it’s a work in progress. They are extremely eager to make things happen and change any problems though, and are really supportive of the show, which is more than I can say for my other friends’ experiences with big corps who actually take the rights of the show.

There will be a YouTube release after the season is over in late March, so I can get lots of YouTUbe comments 🙂 I appreciate you guys tuning in and I’m glad you enjoyed the, show. HA! 🙂

  • Hey Felicia–Way to go on the wrap! I think there’s something goofy with my cache because my post got eaten…if it duplicates, sorry.

With the new year upon us, I was thinking it would be a good time to think about self improvement. So after almost a year, I decided I was going to try your 101 things in 1001 days. I haven’t seen you post any updates with items checked off but I’ll just bet you are killing that thing. (Can you believe it’s almost a year to the day since you were gung-ho about that?) I know at the very least you have a great big item to scratch off the list…Get a sponsor!

Anyway, I was finally motivated and excited to take advantage of this awesome self-improvement tool. So I did a little searching here (and on Google) and in perfect ironic form, the 101 Things site is offline and apparently gone for good. (Does this mean I’m off the hook?)

I’ll use this opportunity to tell you it’s been quite a fun ride this year watching your star continue to rise! I hope 2009 is even better for you!

  • Darren

Hey. Looks like your show is on the up and up. Yay!

Just do not forget us little people when your show explodeth!

So when the time comes when you guys have money to shoot fantasy sequences of your actual gaming characters within your series in battle and stuff, let us know if you need bodies for like erm Dead Enemy Guild Gnome #17 and all. Monty Python lines oh you must do!

All I could ask for would be a T shirt saying, “I was on The Guild and all I got was this T Shirt…

    … And 2 xp.”

  • Awesome work on Episode 3 Felicia! The ‘Squab Drummette’ has to be one of the most laugh-out-loud funny moments in the entire show’s history. As for people having issues with MSN video, I found several of their quirks are fixed by a simple ctrl+refresh. Keep up the great work!

  • ecsamhill

As an insanely addicted WoW player, I just wanted to take a minute to tell you how much I love The Guild! It is awesome and totally makes me giggle.

  • zimtstern

I only recently discovered “The Guild” but been enjoying it ever since! 🙂

I just stumbled upon something I thought you might like, but since I lack things like twitter, I’ll just add it here as a comment, hoping it won’t get killed by spamkarma.
There’s this person who makes necklaces with role playing dice:
(I especially liked this one: )
I’m not affiliated with her in any way, I just liked them myself (… lack a credit card … must find supply stores around here …), remembered your dice pictures and thought you might like them too. 🙂

All the best for next year!

  • Jeff

Despite the browser-related problems with MSN Video (to be expected, it IS Microsoft. :P), at least the viewership seems to have grown by distributing through X-Box Live.

And is Rothfuss’s “Name of the Wind” the one with the Harlequin cover? lol. 🙂

  • Matt F.

Here I am, commenting almost a year after the original post to say I very much enjoyed the comedy improvness. I chortled, and now I want to see some more.

  • Hey Felicia,
I saw you today!! You were my second celebrity sighting of the day. The first one was the latin fellow who played the mexican drug runner in Weeds season 2 or 3, can’t remember. But you were the highlight! I saw you coming out of the food court at Santa Monica Place. You were with an older gentleman, your dad? Anyway, you’re awesome. Keep up the great work!
