I’ve gotten more emails about this article from Forbes Magazine than any other I’ve done!  Very cool interview.

My favorite part is this quote from Joss:

When Joss Whedon was trying to figure out the best way to release Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog on the Web, he turned to Day, who plays Penny in the three-part series. “We showed it at [talent agency] CAA, and their own Internet people didn’t know what to do,” says Whedon. “But we have Felicia Day, and she knows more about the Internet than anyone.”

I don’t suppose it’s obvious enough, but I kinda adore Joss in every way and he’s my hero (makes it awkward to be casual at dinner parties, yes).  So, if he thinks I’m cool or says something nice about me…the quote made my day 🙂

  • You are cool and an inspiration. I have recently started trying to land an agent for the dark fantasy novel I wrote.

I want to get it published so I can have a dedication page to all of my heroes, of which you would be one 🙂

  • I wish I’ve met someone like you, oh, I wish to meet you, even if I’ve had to spend all my saving to travell anywhere from Slovakia to see you 🙂
    You’re really adorable 🙂

  • Felicia, your honesty and joy shines through. The fact that you get nervous when you meet the people you admire is a relief to the rest of us, be assured of that.

And I hear (quite recently) that Joss has that effect on most people when they meet him 🙂

  • Awww, that’s so sweet! ^-^

  • i have a very small talent pool to draw on in obscure writing contests that i never submit to, but still have great works.

If any of my heroes said that about me, pretty much i would be catatonic for a week and probably eat cake.

  • Mike

Honestly, I’m kind of curious about the business side of things – e.g. digital distribution, marketing (esp. the genesis of the new viral “Date my Avatar” bit which is quite clever), and how you monetized things. I’m sure the MS deal had an NDA (maybe not?), but since it’s the only original web series that seemed to break even (I’m assuming with the Sprint and MS sponsorships you have to have hit that point) or become profitable this is of interest.

For the love of God, release a white paper.

Anywho, best. The Guild is funny as hell. Keep up the good work.
