Today is a crazy day for book releases, I wanted to link to a few that are friends’ creations, if you wanna check out some good NEW stuffz!

The Dr. Horrible book is out today and there are amazing awesome entries into all things Horrible. ย If you are a fan, this was worked on by the whole Dr. H team personally (Joss, Maurissa, Jed and Zack). ย Lots of BTS, anecdotes and awesomeness!

If you follow my blog you know I LOVE @lisashearin’s Raine Bernares series. This installment really notches up the fun and sets up for another great book to follow. And, as always, the cover art is just…I mean, it’s kinda better than that last one. Raine’s face is kinda based on some CW actress this round instead of Amy Adams, and her extensions need some conditioning. And Raine uses daggers, so HELLO. But the book itself is awesome, and it’s on Kindle, so yeah!

My friend @bonniegrrl wrote this adorable Star Wars Craft book. If you have kids or are a craft fan and geek of any age, there are some super cute things in here, like a Chewbacca Sock Puppet!

Ok! Busy shooting a part in an indie movie, Rock Jocks, pre-production on The Guild season 5 (if you want to do product placement we have tons of places for the convention scenes! contact watchtheguild @ gmail!), writing Guild comics with Kim Evey and Sandeep Parikh and doing post production on Dragon Age!!! So…yeah, I’ll try to blog more after some stuff lightens up ๐Ÿ™‚

I loved the “the book itself is awesome, and itโ€™s on Kindle, so yeah!” bit. Anyone missing the “So Yeah” page on TV Tropes?

  • Ian

I don’t know, Felicia. If she was stroking a dagger, I wouldn’t feel like a BIG MAN! (Clearly *I* am the intended demographic.)

Thanks for taking time out to say hi to us. Appreciated. ๐Ÿ™‚ Now get back to work slackaninny!

  • Hi Felicia,

What an awesome Con & Conjure shoutout — thank you so much! As to the cover . . . well, Raine could stand to have a little chat with her stylist. ; )

    Lisa

  • SO MUCH GEEKERY! LOVE!

  • Jens

Kinda have a lot of stuff I want to read atm, but might check it out ๐Ÿ™‚

Some webby up for Rock Jock: http://www.rockjocksthemovie.com/
    Sci-fi comedy?

  • Bob

Raine could also do with a little safe sword handling instruction.

    • Either that or a band aid ๐Ÿ™‚

  • WHAT? Why is the Dr. Horrible Book not available on Kindle? I could almost see it on Kindle only and not paper… but paper and not Kindle? That doesn’t make sense.

Please bring the Dr. Horrible book to Kindle ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Mark F

I am hopelessly in love with Veronica Santangelo.

I would never send you packing to the Lucky 38. Call me?

  • Robert

Hello felicia. I will definately check out the dr. Horrible book, and that con and conjure book looks great.
But why mention the star wars craft book? Is there a little jedi in you, waiting to break out?
Thanks for the update, and hoorah for the knights of good!!! [=

  • Robert

    Also, ignore the spelling mistake…
    BYEEEZ!!!!

  • Daniel

Talking about Dr. Horrible, any chance you can tell us something about Dr. Horrible 2? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Joe R

You would make an incredible Raine Benares. I wish SyFy or some other channel would make a movie (or two) out of Lisa Shearin’s books.

  • zombassador

Sweet! I’ve been looking for a good geek craft book! Thankies, Felicia!

A little off topic, but you are as close to a real world expert as I can think to ask.

Facebook has become a promotional medium of choice for artists at every level of the varying markets. FB doesn’t appear to work for products like Pepsi, or hasn’t so far, so the idea that social networks are the future of marketing has flaws at the very least in the sense that it is a universal marketing tool.

Is it a) the lack of a genuine conversation on the product pages? and if so, b) do you think artists will be only as successful using the medium as they are willing to have real conversations? They may not be that frequent (see reward schedule latency in behavioral training (Skinner) but they have to happen at a high enough frequency that the fans will keep trying.

It is possible that the lack of any real conversation with a product page such as Pepsi means the FB business model has very real problems and that if B is so, we should see a different level of success among artists where some merely self-promote and never actually converse in any meaningful way and others actually even if infrequently engage. At the very least, it becomes clear what the artist really cares about. Yes, I understand the competition for time but if an artist has no time for anything but themselves and their art, how are they in any sense, public?

IME as a live performer in intimate venues, if one can’t converse with the audience, one doesn’t work for very long. Social media? I dunno.

More silly themed Dragon Age quests! Yay!

Greetings from across the pond! The Star Wars Craft Book, what a brilliant concept I might just have to get a copy for my sister. Personally I am entirely inept when it comes to making things and would probably end up either ablaze or glued to the wall, so best not to tempt fate.

    Ta-ta and all that!

  • Hi Felicia! Thanks for all the hard work you do producing, acting, and writing. Looking forward to The Guild S5 and the new Dragon Age series. Keep up all the good work!

  • TheArtistMichelle

Thanks for the Lisa Shearin recommendation. I’m always looking for an awesome new author. I’m half way through her first book and am hooked already. And I agree with previous posters, you should totally play Raine and why the heck isn’t Dr. Horrible available on Kindle?!? Thanks for everything you do.

  • Wonderful website. Plenty of useful information here. I?m sending it to some friends ans additionally sharing in delicious. And certainly, thanks to your effort!

  • You really make it seem really easy along with your presentation however I find this matter to be actually something that I believe I’d by no means understand. It sort of feels too complicated and very large for me. I am looking ahead to your subsequent submit, I’ll try to get the hold of it!

  • I am extremely impressed with your writing skills as neatly as with the structure to your weblog. Is this a paid subject or did you customize it your self? Anyway stay up the excellent quality writing, it’s rare to see a great blog like this one today..
