Uploaded and Working! I think!

So, my anxiety was not founded.  My site works fine!  Although looking at it, I’m wondering why I did half the things I did.  Also, the Quicktime reel seems to not be working on my boyfriend’s computer.  So, I might have to look into that.

I redid this blog using a template by Huhu designs I found.  It’s nice and simple and reflected the idea for my site, which was a handmade scrapbook.   The original colors didn’t match my theme, so I went in to change them up, editing the style sheet.  In that little foray into the CSS stylesheet, I realize what a bonehead I was in most of my programming, that if I figured out how to do what I did for the main site in CSS it would have been a lot more efficient and attractive.

So, I have a project!  Learn some CSS, redo the site like a big girl!  In the meantime I will be filling out my links here, and blogging about all my obsessions, including a little acting.  I forget that out of Hollywood people like to hear about that stuff. :)

Finally…

As I speak my website is finally uploading!  I can’t wait for all the problems to arise after I check and see if it’s actually on the Web!

It’s been about 4 weeks since I picked up my keyboard and decided to do this.  I can honestly say that I’ve enjoyed the experience, although it’s been rather frustrating at times.  I think it’s been extra difficult because I’ve been programming in a really numbskull way, and if I had learned the CSS that I still don’t know FIRST, I think the site would be more attractive, and a lot more functional.  Oh well!  As they say in Hollywood, it’s all in the rewrite!

I have Lynda.com to thank for pretty much all of what I DID learn.  Video tutorials are the best way to learn anything I think, that and podcasts.  With the soothing sounds of, er, “what’s his face” on the Dreamweaver tutorial course, I created a real website! (I think it’s Gordon Chow.  It’s G/C something :)

In the coming weeks I will be adding content to the blog mostly, then I’m going to delve into the CSS world, a new learning curve and all that.  I hope you enjoy reading along!
